Body length approximately 10 cm, large and robust, ranking among the largest in the katydid group. Entire body green, with the basal half of the forewing costa white. Head very short, vertex small, conical, with a dorsal groove. Compound eyes spherical and protruding. Antennal sockets surrounded by strongly raised ridges. Pronotum covered with granular protuberances, two transverse grooves—the posterior transverse groove located anterior to the center—posterior margin angularly projecting. The widest part of the forewing situated slightly posterior to the center, anterior and posterior margins converging toward the tip; RS vein very straight, a rounded pterostigma present near the base between the R and M veins. Hindwings longer than forewings, tip leathery and same color as forewings, remainder pale and transparent. Mid and hind femora dorsally armed with spines; hind tibia lacking spines on the dorsal outer ridge, inner margin with 5–6 basally strongly enlarged spines but lacking apical spurs; ventral outer ridge with 7–8 similar spines, inner ridge with 6 spines.
